Although Pajarito in the South Valley has a bad reputation, it is worth considering. For instance, the area around Pajarito has a low crime rate today, offering a safer living environment. Moreover, the properties in this area are larger and more rural. They offer the luxury of having several acres, which is perfect for keeping livestock such as horses, bees, and chickens. The downside is that it is not a high-income area, so if you are sensitive to your neighbors' property, this might not be the best choice for you.

A Personal Experience in Albuquerque

I have lived in Albuquerque for around five years, and while it can be an amazing place, it's all about personal preference, lifestyle, and budget. The city struggles with an overall lack of resources and space for expansion. My previous experience living in the Northeast part of town, near Alameda and Wyoming, where La Cueva High School is located, taught me that living around there is a great option. This area offers quick access to highways and a reasonable commute. Additionally, it's a growing area with new businesses and shopping options, making it a vibrant environment to live in.

The downsides to this area are the higher rent prices and the limited selection of homes to choose from, which made the search for a place to live quite time-consuming. Despite these drawbacks, I find this area a true gem and would move back in a heartbeat if given the chance. Another perk of living in this area is the proximity to the Balloon Fiesta Park. During Balloon Fiesta, we had the unique experience of having balloons land on our street several times, which was a fascinating and memorable event.

Southwest Side of Albuquerque

For those looking to avoid certain areas in the Southwest side of town, south of I-40 and west of I-25, it's best to steer clear. This area has a less favorable reputation and is not a safe or desirable place to live.
