The Pros and Cons of Being a Young Adult
Would you rather be an adult your whole life or prefer being a kid or a teenager? This question can be quite complex and subjective. In my case, as a 22-year-old, I find myself much preferring being a very young adult. I hold a deep respect for the three stages of life granted to me by fate. Whether I am 75, or just 22, I find a contentment in aging and am comfortable with the changes that come with each stage. Life is a series of stages, akin to a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and then bed. My life is moving through the stages from young adulthood to old age, a journey that is just the facts of a life span.
Adult vs. Childhood: A Different Perspective
Many people romanticize their teen years, highlighting the lack of responsibility. However, with this comes a lack of freedom that many overlook. The pressures of school, homework, and parental authority can be quite stark. My parents weren't the strictest, but I enjoy my autonomy and wouldn't trade it for the world. It's important to respect and appreciate each stage of life.
Regrets and Anticipations
When I was younger, I desired adulthood. However, now that I've experienced the challenges and responsibilities of adulthood, I often wish to return to my teenage years. This is a common sentiment in life, where we often evaluate our past choices and imagine alternate paths. Still, my current level of life satisfaction aligns with my age, and I find myself content with the choices and experiences I've had so far.
Adult Life: More Freedom, More Responsibility
Entering the workforce brings a sense of freedom, unlike the constraints of school. Working is more gratifying as I get paid for my efforts. I don't have a mature enough perspective to see the long-term benefits of education. Hence, I have a mixed opinion on whether working is preferable to schooling. Nonetheless, the structure and authority of school can be burdensome, and the freedom of work makes it a more enjoyable experience.
Being a Young Adult: The Best of Both Worlds
If I were to choose between the options, I would prefer to be a young adult. A young adult can enjoy the benefits of both youth and adulthood. You can vote, go to clubs, and do whatever you want legally, all while maintaining a fit body and beautiful face. Children lack the ability to enjoy life the way adults do, and adults have much more to worry about. Conversely, young adults have responsibilities without the full weight of adult duties, and they can explore the world without being naive.
Conclusion
Life is a balance of responsibilities and freedoms, and each stage offers unique advantages. Whether you are young, old, or somewhere in between, each stage of life is filled with its own set of challenges and satisfactions. It's a journey where the experiences we accumulate help us understand and appreciate the beauty of life at different stages.
