How to Enter the World of Balloon Twisting: A Guide for Beginners

The Early Experience: A Child’s Perspective

This goes back all the way to 2008 when I was 4 years old. My family and I were on a vacation to a nice hotel near a hot spring. I don’t remember all the details, but I do recall a clown who was twisting balloons for children, creating all sorts of things with them. Behind him was a huge army of children, all eager to get their hands on those magical balloons. I was one of those children, dying to get my second or third balloon. I had forgotten everything around me, left my parents without even looking back (according to my mom), and was living my life chasing the balloon man. He would have easily kidnapped me now I think about it. But again, I was just a little child. The days were good.

Learning from My Mother: The Early Lessons

After our vacation, my mom learned the art of balloon twisting for me. She taught me the techniques, and many years later, she was still remembering them, despite not having practiced in so long. So, she taught the art of balloon twisting to me for a school event. It was two years ago when I was in 7th grade. We had to start our business in an event at my school. Everyone had to sell some stuff and make some profit. I opened a balloon twisting stand named Mr. Balloon, a name that might seem a bit odd since I am not a dude. I sold balloon animals and figures for a dollar or two. That day, I made 17 dollars! It might not seem like a lot, but considering that I only paid for my balloons, which didn’t even cost 3 dollars, it was a reasonable profit. That's how I had my first balloon twisting gig, and I’ve had many others since then.

Getting Your First Gig in the Balloon Twisting World

If you are interested in entering the world of balloon twisting, here are a few tips to help you get started. First, consider trying balloon twisting at festivals and similar events. The people you interact with will usually be children. Give out some free balloons to children in your community and make yourself known as the “sweet balloon guy” among them. Because if you gain the love of children, adults will ask you to participate in parties and other events. This will help you to achieve your goal.

Good luck. Balloons are good. ??
