How to Detect the Presence of a Presence: Unveiling the Signs and Signals of a Ghost

Have you ever felt a sudden chill in your spine or noticed a peculiar scent in your surroundings? These are not just mere sensations; they could be signs of a ghost or spirit presence near you. In this article, we will explore how to detect the presence of a ghost and delve into the diverse ways one can communicate with these ethereal beings.

Signs of a Presence

The common answer to how one can tell when a presence is near usually starts with our instinct telling us something/someone is nearby: hair standing on the back of the neck and arms getting goosebumps. The second is a cold breeze or a patch of air that 'doesn’t belong' meaning everywhere else the air is room temperature/warm and you come across a cold patch. A third way is the smell. When everywhere around you doesn’t smell of anything or something precise, and then you come across a patch that smells different: floral, herbal, cologne, or perfume, something distinctive. Another way would be seeing orbs floating around, usually visible on camera lenses or phones.

Something else to listen out for are noises that don’t belong. Sometimes steps, knocks, scratches, or drops of something. Again, usually those come from nowhere and can feel distant or close depending on the property. If a presence/ghost interaction only involves a touch, it’s usually cold and not quite human. These are the usual communication signs on how to tell if a spirit is nearby.

Personal Anecdote and Ghost Experiences

In my past, I experienced a haunting event at a hospital. A person thought to be a friend was dying, and his sister and I were walking down a hospital corridor. We had about a 10-inch gap between us, and we both felt him going between us. His arm seemed to go through me, and he was being pulled away. His sister felt the same. It was as if he was being pulled away while fighting it. Since then, I have discovered that he lied about me and my family, which contributed to people murdering my dad and poisoning me. He wanted to be friends with some country singers or make a little money, become a big shot, or gain pity. These experiences taught me about the extent of human greed and the devastating effects of betrayal.

Understanding Ghosts as Disembodied Persons or Spirits

I prefer to refer to ghosts as disembodied persons or spirits. As a mature human, I can relate to the past with black-and-white TVs and the need for a remote control. Old black-and-white TVs were great for 'tuning in' to ethereal frequencies. When the broadcasting day ended, often at midnight, there was a test pattern displayed on the screen. The tone and pitch of the frequency emitted during the test pattern were great for extra-corporeal persons to influence, attempting to communicate with living persons. I always figured the cathode ray tube was part of the explanation, even though I wasn't sure why or how.

Additional methods of detecting a ghost include some folks smelling bodiless spirits, some feeling their energy, and some sensitives noticing drafts of cold air. I often notice a hollowness in the space. The first ghost that really made me uneasy had a distinctive scent as well as a chill draft. I learned to keep moving when I smelled it and felt it. It made my horses feel pretty uneasy too, so we moved off promptly from that valley.

However you perceive them, if a spirit wants to get your attention, they will. Ghosts and spirits don’t always mean harm, but they can be intriguing and mysterious creatures, and knowing the signs to watch out for can help you stay vigilant and prepared.
