If you’ve seen Scream or watched Friends then you know how great Courteney Cox and David Arquette are onscreen.

Now that they’ve announced their “trial” separation after 11 years of marriage offscreen there were obviously problems below the surface.

Courteney and David met on the set of Scream in 1996 and have a six year old daughter named Coco.

What’s surprising is that it sounds like they’ve kept their separation secret for a while now, dating back a few months.  Chances are there’s less hope for reconciliation.

Courteney’s Friends co-star David Schwimmer coincidentally just tied the knot with his fiance Zoe Buckman.

What’s noteworthy about Courteney’s marriage with David was that not very long after their marriage they apparently started marriage counselling and made it a long term relationship fix for them.  Who knows if that was a good thing or not.  Who knows if relationships are meant to be analyzed that intensely on a day to day basis.

David Arquette allegedly recently reported, according to one website online, that the split wasn’t his idea and that they started to drift apart a while back.

Many Scream and Friends fans are probably now wondering what chances they have of reconciling after the well publicized  Courteney Cox and David Arquette split coming to light.

Apparently their daughter Coco asked David if they were getting a divorce.  He apparently said “No, we’re taking time off to know….what we want out of our mate better”

They’re a great couple, with a daughter.  That in itself creates a strong bond between them.  Marriages can grow stale after a period of time.  Needs of spouses can change too.  Also couples can grow apart or just get bored.  That doesn’t necessarily mean that a marriage is over.  It just means it needs some reinvention.

Sometimes you have to change that hairstyle you’ve had your whole life, or go a drastically different colour that’s outright daring and outside the box.  Sometimes you have to unleash your goddess inside by learning belly dancing or pole dancing to reignite interest.  Sometimes you have to pick up that guitar that’s sitting dusty in the corner of your bedroom and relive your teenage years as a “rockstar” to feel alive again.

If you stop feeling alive in yourself your spouse is going to stop feeling excited by you too.

To keep the spark in any marriage you need to keep the attraction and interest alive every step of the way.  Trust me, if you don’t, someone else will notice that your spouse is feeling neglected and take advantage.
